LEAGUE RULES

1. SPARES: All spares must play Lead or Second.

2. REGISTERED SPARES: There are several registered spares marked (Reg'd.) on your Team Roster Sheet. These registered spares have Paid to play & may play any position including skip & third.

3. BUZZER: We will start our Leage @ 5:55 to give us 5 extra minutes. A buzzer will sound @ 7:40, at the buzzer, you complete the end you are play and play one more end.

4. 8 PM DRAW: There is an 8pm draw this year (UVic Alumni) and therefore we must be diligent to finish by 8pm. If our League is constatnly late, to the point of complaints, we may have no choice but to instigate an 8:00 ubuzzer & the game is instantly over at the 8:00 buzzer.

CURLING TIPS TO SPEED UP PLAY

Curling is a sport filled with spirit, sportsmanship and Good Etiquette. We sometimes unknowingly play this game too slow, and do not complete 8 ends in 2 hours. Most curlers feel 15 minutes per end (2 hours for 8ends) is a comfortable pace to play. Slow play allows player to get bored and cold, and delays to following Leagues.

  • HERE ARE SOME GREAT TIPS TO KEEP UP THE PACE COMFORTABLY.

  1. Arrive at least 15 minutes before Game time to Stretch, Change and Practice slide.

  2. Be on the ice 5 minutes before game time, to shake hands, throw coin, converse.

  3. While the opposition's rock is in motion, the next shooter should be cleaning their rocks and getting ready to shoot the moment the opponent's rock comes to a stop.

  4. AFTER AN END: Only the Second and Third should push the Rocks to the boards, THE LEAD grabs their numberd stone and gets ready to shoot.

  5. DO NOT SORT THE ROCKS, simply push them to the corner, and everyone grab their own numbered rock when it's their time to shoot. Do not waste time sorting rocks in sequential order.

  6. Only the SKIP and THIRD should be discussing strategy, the Front End should move to the Delivery Hack and pull out their Skip and Third's rocks to save time.

  7. SKIPS AND THIRDS discussing every shot in the end is also ridiculous and should be reduced to the odd strategic situation throughout the game.

  8. Most leagues have a Buzzer at 20 minutes to the hour. You need to complete the End your on and play one more. If your team is NOT AT THIRD'S ROCKS at the Buzzer, you are going to be very late, and need to considerably pick up the pace.

ENJOY YOUR GAME, BUT STAY FOCUSED ON SPEED OF PLAY
